Parental Role
"Since parents have given children their life, they are bound by the most
serious obligation to educate their offspring; therefore, they must be
recognized as the primary and principal educators the role in education is so
important that only with difficulty can it be supplied where it is lacking.
Parents are the ones who must create a family atmosphere animated by love and
respect for god and others, in wh1ch the well-rounded personal and social
education of children is fostered. "(Vatican Council II)
Our catholic church recognizes the awesome responsibility of parents as the
first and most important educators of their children. We count on you to take
this responsibility to heart before placing your children in our program.
Good Shepherd Spiritual Formation Program exists as a service for Catholic
parents to aid them in the Christian responsibility to raise and educate their
children in the Catholic faith tradition.
The catechists give formality to what happens at home, regarding family faith
life. By registering your children in the Spiritual Formation Program, you are
making a commitment to the faith life of your family. Together, parents,
children, and catechists, can grow in faith as the people of God and heirs of
the Kingdom of Heaven.
