Marriage is a sacrament, a powerful sign of God’s loving presence in the
world, the place where you encounter God, where you meet the incarnate Christ in
one another. Marriage is a sacred
covenant, a relationship that demands intimacy, fidelity, and permanence, a
relationship which mirrors God’s love for us.
When you deepen your relationship with your spouse, you deepen your
relationship with God. Those of you
who share your marriage with a spouse from another faith provide a beautiful
witness to Christ’s call to unity. As
you share the treasures of both your religious traditions with one another and
with your children, you are challenged to deepen your own relationship with
Jesus and with the Church.
