Volunteers in this ministry make new parents feel welcome, they encourage all
parents to share their faith with their child and assist at the actual baptisms.
During the parent meetings, parents gather with baptism team volunteers. The
responsibilities of the volunteers during these meetings are to welcome the
couples, explain the Ceremony of Baptism at Good Shepherd, share their faith
journey, have them write prayers for their babies and answer questions the
parents may have. During the Baptism Ceremony the volunteers are responsible for
greeting, setting up for the ceremony and assisting the celebrant. Participation
in the Baptism Ministry can be done as a couple, as a family, or as an
individual. Each team member’s personal schedule is always considered and
accommodated whenever possible. The baptisms are held on the first and third
Sunday of the month from 2 pm to 3 pm. If you are interested please contact the Good Shepherd Office (631) 588-7689.
