Why Bless Yourself With Holy Water

Why Do We "Bless" Ourselves with "Holy Water" Before Mass?

As Catholic Christians we enter into the Church through the waters of baptism (literally and figuratively). It is only through the water that we can come to the table of the Lord. So, at all of the entrances of our churches there are "little baptismal fonts" to remind us of our baptism.

Some churches are designed or renovated with the Baptismal Font at a primary or single entrance making the gesture of signing with water very clear in it's meaning. It is the sign of surrender we are marked with, it is the water of rebirth we go through to get to the table of life.
