The Ministry of Consolation is the offering of a personal and caring presence, on behalf of the Parish Community, to a family that is experiencing the death of a loved one. The men and women who are a part of this Ministry are "companions" along the way. As companions they will make contact with the family early on to express sympathy and extend any assistance. When able to meet with family members, the Scriptures and hymns can be selected for the funeral liturgy. Volunteers are asked to be involved in the prayers with the family and friends who gather on the last night of the wake and to be present and participating at the Eucharist. Additionally, volunteers who are computer capable will make up a booklet that will be used during the funeral liturgy. A cake baker is needed to deliver a cake to the family in mourning a month after the funeral. At the funeral home members of the Lazarus Ministry will express the sympathy of "Our Community". The various opportunities to be involved in this Ministry are shared by the men and women who participate since some aspects of the Ministry may be more comfortable than others or more in keeping with the demands of your own schedule. If your heart is so moved to be available to sisters and brothers during this difficult time, please call Noranne Hill .
