Each Christian receives the saving power of the Redemption, beginning with
the mystery of Baptism, in which we are buried into the death of Christ, in
order to become sharers in His Resurrection, as the Apostle teaches. (cf. Rom.
6: 3-5)
In the light of this teaching, we see still more clearly the reason why the
entire Sacramental Life of the Church and of each Christian reaches its summit
and fullness in the Eucharist.
“Lord, you know that I love you...Lord, you know that I love you” (John
21: 15-17)
The Eucharist is, in a certain way, the culminating point of this answer. I
wish to repeat it together with the whole Church to Him who manifested His love
by means of the Sacrament of His Body and Blood, remaining with us “to the
close of the age”. (Matthew 28: 20)
The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the Church’s greatest resource in the
care of the sick. This has been her special gift to the sick and the dying from
post-apostolic times when Eucharistic reservation began.
It is fitting that care should be taken to provide the nourishment of the
Eucharist for those who are prevented for any reason from attending its
celebration in the community. They will thus feel themselves united to this
community and sustained by the love of their brethren. Anyone who is in need of
this Ministry, please contact the Church office at 588-7689.
Any Eucharistic Minister who is interested in bringing the Eucharist to the
sick or homebound, please contact Deacon Tom O'Connor, Coordinator for this
Ministry.
