To
The Parish Family of Good Shepherd
Believe it or not, I find myself at a loss for words. For all that you have done
for me and been to me. Thank You. When I was transferred here from my first
parish, I told them, sincerely and honestly, that they taught me how to be a
priest. As I move from Good Shepherd after eleven years (Yes, eleven. A six year
assignment, a three year extension, and, an unheard of, two year extension). I
say to you, sincerely and honestly, you taught me to be myself and still be a
priest (not an easy thing to do). I will never forget you for that, and I hope I
find, in the future, the same openness, trust, and love that is the hallmark of
Good Shepherd. I have been appointed by the Bishop to be the Chaplain of St.
John the Baptist High School in West Islip, and I will be in residence at Our
Lady of Lourdes in West Islip. I look forward to my new work but at the sad cost
of having to say goodbye to you. Thank you for everything.
Peace and Love,
Fr. Bob
